Understanding Architecture: Skin
Faulders Studio is based in Kitamagome Ota-ku in Tokyo. It was created in July 2007 by a design team that consisted of Faulders Studio, Proces2 and Studio M.
The buildings skin consists of four spider-web/mesh types of exterior surrounding the building. This building has a lot of different uses with the skin, when the sunlight hits the skin, the metal reflects the sun along the exterior. Privacy is shielded by the design as the skin covers the windows so people can not view in from the street but the residents can still see out. Rainwater is also carried away from the walk ways due to the design of the building and its skin. |
